Over the years, Sealand – A Maersk Company Asia’s journey to digitalization introduced faster and easier ways of doing business in the Intra-Asia market. From documents sent by faxes or Excel spreadsheets, Sealand Asia’s e-commerce platform – powered by Maersk’s innovations – has modernized shipping in various ways for their customers in the region.

Manual payments, however, remained as a pain point for both the customer and internal teams. While direct bank transfer is an excellent available option, there are a lot of customers who still need to head to banks, remittance centers or office counters to settle their invoices and later send the proof of transaction back to Sealand for verification.

That’s why a key focus area in Sealand Asia’s in digital evolution is the development of convenient online payment solutions across the region.

In a recent milestone, Sealand Indonesia’s customers can now experience an easier and more convenient way to pay with the launch of Online Payments on sealandmaersk.com.


Modernising the payment experience

In April 2020, Sealand launched an online payment solution for Indonesia customers, which is integrated in sealandmaersk.com’s My Finance. Through this new solution, customers in the country can pay their invoices directly on sealandmaersk.com.

With just a few clicks, the payment syncs automatically into Sealand’s internal systems, leading to zero manual handling and instant release of the customer’s documents.

For Sealand Indonesia’s customers, the benefits are clear: the online payment solution is easy, fast and exceptionally convenient than the old way of queuing at a bank or remittance center.

Customer PT Translindo Malaka Express Line shares his experience: “It’s an easy process. We do not need to send proof of transaction or wait for feedback by e-mail from the CS or Finance team. Previously, we would have to wait for up to 4 hours but now we can get the confirmation once payment confirm also from our Bank. Doesn’t take more than 1 minute!”

Bringing easier payments across Asia

Indonesia’s online payment solution is not the first that Sealand Asia introduced to the Intra-Asia market.

In mid-2019, Sealand Asia also launched online payment solution in China. Similar to Indonesia’s online payment solution, China Pay is also integrated in sealandmaersk.com for a seamless online payment experience. A solution called SmartPay was launched in 2019 as well in Singapore and Malaysia.

With the positive response from China and Indonesia, Sealand Asia will continue to develop online payment options for the rest of the region.
